New Site Layout
April 21, 2008 by Mark Godfrey
Gone is the Bill Parcells banner and old site layout. Narcissist, one of our
resident Moderators, would say "Thank God -- I've been to Iraq and back in the
time you have been messing with the layout. What took you so long?". I agree and welcome back,
Narc! :-) Nevertheless, it took some time, but the new site uses ASP.NET 2.0, ASP.NET 3.5,
and ASP.NET AJAX technology instead of the old classic ASP. That my friends is a huge step forward
both in the ability to provide better applications, but for my personal
knowledge as well. For as much as this site is dedicated
to the Dallas Cowboys, it's also a site where I sharpen my programming skills. Unfortunately, my regular job pays the bills,
not this site,
so it comes first and I work on this site when time permits. Feel free to register,
but until we have our applications online it won't buy you much except for
being an early bird. If you spot any bugs,
please report them here or in a PM if it's a security type bug.
That said, it's now time to get busy updating content and creating draft application. It's too late for the 2008 NFL
Draft, but we will get an early jump on 2009 very soon and build throughout the year.
In the meantime, our visitors have been crunching away in the message board
so join us there as we chat about the draft. Thanks much to those that helped
input 2008 draft prospects recently so I'd have test data -- and I hope you will
do the same for the 2009 prospects once I have it setup in the near future. I also have
a couple of Dallas Cowboys applications in mind so I can get busy with them too.
That way, we're ready for the upcoming Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl season. Enjoy the new layout and
hang with us as we add more content and applications. Feel
free to leave feedback here.
NFL Draft Time
April 20, 2008 by Mark Godfrey
Always an exciting time, the NFL Draft is next weekend. Here at CowboysGuide.com we have absolute nuts
that eat, drink, and puke as every rumor or screwy trade of the day hits the
Internet. From trading half the roster for Darren McFadden -- to the paranioa
that Jessica Simpson may attend the draft, it's crazy this time of year.
Nevertheless, join us in the message area as we are having fun with the rumors and counting the days until the 'Boys
are on the clock!
Giants End Cowboys Season
Jan 13, 2008 by Mark Godfrey
So close but the Dallas Cowboys once again failed to get the playoff win that is
so elusive. Despite being the #1 seed the Giants marked into Dallas winning
21-17 after a late Tony Romo pass was intercepted. Joing us in the message area
as we cry, moan, and groan
our hearts away.
Join us here for the NFL Draft, April 26-27 for all day coverage.
Dallas Cowboys Player Spotlight
Jason Garrett is our spotlight guy. Loyalty and a big Jerry Jones checkbook keep
him in Dallas. After interviewing with both the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta
Falcons Garrett decided to stay in Dallas and finish what he started this
season. Chat about it in our message board... more
