Dallas Clark - TE - Iowa - Third Round #69

In an effort to move the ball, the tight end position is critical. Even with the addition of Dan Campbell through free agency, a tough guy that can get open down the field is a must for the Cowboys. Besides, with a name like Dallas, the drafting of Clark is fate. With 43 receptions for 742 yards and four touchdowns this past season, he won the John Mackey Award given to the nation's top tight end. Clark declared as a junior stating ""Whatever happens, happens. I can’t believe this opportunity, but I’m just going to enjoy it.” It's not surprising that Clark declared for the NFL draft because he will be 24-years old on June 12.

Many thought that the 'Boys should have drafted Jeremy Shockey last year, and it's obvious that help is needed to aid an anemic offense. Too many times last season the Dallas tight ends faked falling down to get open. It worked on numerous occasions, but not since the days of Jay Novacek have the Cowboys had a true downfield threat. Clark is a threat anywhere on the field-- he's caught a 95-yard touchdown pass, and he is also a good blocker despite weighting only 260 pounds. A clutch player, he caught a 7-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal late in an Iowa Hawkeyes 31-28 victory over Purdue. As a former linebacker, you can expect him to be a force on special teams initially.
