I'd only want this player if he was deemed healthy and then for only 20 plays a game, primarily 1st down. I want to force team into known passing plays. However, all in all, I want to go younger, we aren't THAT close to being a Superbowl team, we have 2 or 3 needs in all areas (offense, defense, ST) JMO.

I think that we are that close to being a superbowl team.... An upgrade in a few areas and we could definitely win it all. JMOT but I think that we are in the top 5 teams in the league. This next year will depend on injuries. Last year we got lucky that no one got hurt. I would take Jamal Williams over Saivvii in a heartbeat if Ratliff goes down.

Agreed.............

We are close......

If we do have 2-3 needs in each phase a couple may already be on the roster..........and others can be had in draft and free agency. And if we are smart one player can fill multiple needs.....like CB/WR's who can be return men.

wade phillips should be fired if he ever wanted to move ratliff to DE. the guy is an absolute force at NT, why would u even try messing with that? yes bring in williams for depth but moving ratliff out of NT is a crazy idea. don't tinker with that, he's fine where he is. probly top 3 at his position.

You have a good point champ. And other sports writers have said the same thing. Maybe we shouldn't move him to DE, but bring in a mauler to stuff the run on at least first or second downs. Change it up some. If it's 3rd and short, bring in Jamal (or similar type). If it's 2nd or 3rd and long, bring in Ratliff. Keep him fresh. He is tiring out at the end of games and seasons by being an every down nose tackle. He isn't big enough to take the constant pounding.

Also, if another nose tackle is brought in, at least try to see what he can do at DE in practice and preseason. What if he does turn out to be a phenomenal DE? It's worth a try right? But....if the nose tackle position suffers because he is not there, then go ahead and return him there, because a great NT is more effective than a great DE in the 3-4 in my opinion. (A NT helps both DE's if he is great, but a great DE may not help the NT or other DE as much.)

If Jamal Williams is healthy he's one of the best in the business at NT and he starts for me. Williams and Olshansky would be very stout and Ratliff would be more than a handful without a double team block.

Ratliff cried when he was moved to NT and he'll cry if he's moved back to DE, but the man will put his feelings aside and kick tail. Besides, he'll be at NT half the time anyway (obvious passing downs).

Adam Schefter tweeting that Williams has signed with Denver....

Quote:

DT Jamal Williams done in Denver: 3 years, $16 million, including $7 milliion gtd, with a max value to deal over $22 million.

Get Jamal as a nose tackle, and move Ratliff to DE. Ratliff would dominate from that position.
