I wonder if seeing Steeler LB Ryan Shazier at the draft had anything to do with it.

That put a crinkle in the draft for us. Then Eagles traded up in front of us to take Dallas Goedert TE. That sucked. However, most Dallas radio guys were thrilled with The Guard we took. Sounds like Zach Martin 2.0 He was ranked on most boards as a 1st rounder.

Contrary to previous reports on his future, it seems as though legendary Tennessee Volunteers tight end Jason Witten has not settled on a decision just yet.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported last week that Witten was all set to retire from his role with the Dallas Cowboys to become a part of the network’s Monday Night Football broadcast crew. But after some contemplation and maybe some persuasion from both the Cowboys and a mystery network, that decision appears to be very much in the air.

Mortensen updated the situation on Sunday evening, indicating that Witten is now weighing three different options for his future.

“Jason Witten continues to contemplate his decision on retirement to join MNF broadcast team,” Mortensen wrote on Twitter. “But a source says another network has made a last-minute ‘interesting’ proposal that also is being considered. Announcement likely will be Wednesday. The Dallas Cowboys still hope he plays.

“Cowboys coach Jason Garrett is actively trying to persuade Witten to play a 16th season this year, a team source said.”

With that update, Witten’s options for his Wednesday decision appear to be:

- Return to the Dallas Cowboys for a 16th season

- Accept role on ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast crew

- Accept “interesting” last-minute proposal from a mystery network, presumably to cover the NFL

Most of us would be stunned to have the opportunity for a chance at one of those options, but it appears the former Vols star will have his pick of the three.

If ESPN is the role he chooses, former Vols quarterback Casey Clausen already has expressed the opinion that his former teammate will be great at the new gig.

“Jason will be great in the booth, and it’s a boost for Tennessee football,” Clausen told SEC Country’s Mike Griffith on Friday, shortly after reports surfaced that the former Vols and Cowboys star was retiring to take a job hosting Monday Night Football.

“As good of a football player that Jason was for us at Tennessee and has been in the NFL — one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game — he’s an even better person. I’m excited for him, Michelle and the family.”

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been trying to talk his prized tight end into one more season for a career that already has produced 1,152 NFL receptions for 12,448 yards and 68 touchdowns.

Not going to believe it's over until the press conference where he or Jerry announces it.

Jason Witten speech was amazing. My God gentlemen....he will be missed. If anyone besides Bob Lilly could be called Mr. Cowboy, it would be Jason Witten. You are a true Dallas Cowboy, a true football player, and a truly good man. God bless you! :bowbow: :thbravo: :gentleman:
