I forgot to mention my high school, Heelan Catholic High. They won the state Football championship in Iowa this season, and just won the Basketball championship too. First basketball one ever, and first football one since 1983. They always got there alot, but always choked in the big game. This time they won by about 30. Same thing in basketball; just killed them.

Although I have to admit we dropped down to 3A two years ago. With declining enrollment in private schools almost everywhere, they had no choice to drop from 4A. But doing so gave Heelan almost overwhelming superiority. They've won the Baseball championship twice as well. And the girls have won the state Volleyball championship at least twice. They made it to the basketball championship game this year, but got creamed. So at least something went wrong!

Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now, just wanted to brag a little about my alma mater.

Heelan was always Dowling's whipping post in whatever sport they played.

In your dreams Cuz! Our record was almost equal, and I don't know who had the better record. Yet I remember our last football game with Dowling when I was a senior in 1992. Yup, Heelan won! Dowling will forever remember that they lost the last of our titanic games.

Brandon Wegher was the starting running back lsat season for the Iowa Hawkeyes as a freshman. Yup, he's from Heelan.
