Final Mock of 2017

Post by sandyf » Thu Apr 27, 2017 9:38 am

Today is the day, finally!! What we will do is anyone's guess. This mock will be what I believe could happen and give us players that can actually help us in 2017 as well as beyond. It should be a wild ride tonight and through Saturday but the best thing is football!

28. A trade happens. Yes, Dallas has about 4 players with the same grade and the Saints come calling wanting to move up for Kevin King CB Washington who is still on the board. Dallas likes the kid and could take him but Saints offer their 3rd to sweeten the deal and Dallas takes the deal and moves down to 32 while getting #76 in return.

32. Malik McDowell DE/DT Michigan St - when they kid plays, he takes over a game, his problem is keeping focus but Marinelli can handle him and his focus will be much better as a rotation player with Tapper and Lawrence. At 6'6" and 285, he is as fast as the smaller DEs in the draft and he is just extremely quick and more of the quick twitch guy Marinelli likes, besides he fits the measure of playing multiple spots, inside and outside. Sure there are a couple DBs here that Dallas could get but after about pick 40 all the DEs left aren't going to get you much this year. Now if Watt and McDowell are both at 32, then it would be a toss up on who Dallas takes but they will take a DE.

60. Fabian Moreau CB UCLA - his rehab is going well and although he will miss part of training camp, he is the type player that Dallas likes in that has good feet, tackles well, can play CB or FS, is physical in that he can handle the big WR in the league.

76. Justin Evans S Texas A&M - Just the guy they want at the safety position, great character, great speed, can play either safety position, hits and tackles well and is very athletic. Will make the safety position excellent for years with Jones and Frazier.

92. Ahkello Witherspoon CB Colorado - not much talk about him because he is still learning the game but has excellent size and speed especially for the tall and fast WR of the NFL today. His problem seems to be more about tackling and believe Marinelli will instill that in him. Could see him helping much like Brown did early on last year. See him as a starter in a year.

Trade with Seattle who have comp picks of 102 and 106, Dallas has two guys they want that have fallen and willing to give up their 3rd in 2018 and #211, #246 this year for both along with Alfred Morris RB and James Hanna TE.

102. Adam Shaheen TE Ashland College - believe he falls because from a small college and although dominant it just isn't the same in the NFL. He will need at least a year to become a productive TE but hard to pass up the size, speed and athletic ability of a possible starting TE. Even with Witten, Swaim, and Gathers on the roster, Dallas prefers to keep and use 4 TEs. With Gathers apparently going to be a good one and Shaheen, would make two great targets for Dak especially in the red zone.

106. Tanoh Kpassagnon TE Villanova - has a great motor, the great height and speed you like, probably a LDE but could you imagine a DL set in rotation of McDowell, Irving, Collins and Kpassagnon, it would difficult to throw over the top of them. Could be effective this year in rotation.

133. Julie'N Davenport OT Bucknell - very athletic OT, good feet, great character, great work effort, will take a year but will be our RT in 2018 and beyond. Dallas taking 3 guys in a row from small schools is normally unlikely although they met and worked out all 3 and more than once so the interest is definitely there.

Another trade!! Dallas trades their highest comp in 2018 to San Francisco who has a bevy of picks due to several earlier trades. Dallas gets #145, #161, and #198.

145. Howard Wilson CB Houston - very underrated CB who has good size and speed but limited experience, not afraid of any WR, should provide help on special teams and could make an impact in slot if Scandrick hurt again.

161. Chad Williams WR Grambling - more of a development at WR but he catches everything and is physical. Could see him as a 4th WR.

198. Donnel Pumphrey RB SDSU - he is undersized but very productive, catches the ball well, great punt and kickoff return man, should be the Dunbar type that excels on 3rd down

228. Ben Gedeon LB Michigan - smart, great character, great work ethic, great special teams guy. Dallas always drafts a LB somewhere in the draft it seems.

UDFAs: Tedric Thompson S Colorado, Ben Boulware LB Clemson, Seth Russell QB Baylor, Treston Decoud CB/S Oregon St, Aaron Jones RB UTEP, KD Cannon WR Baylor, Josh Carraway DE/OLB TCU, Jeremy Clark CB Michigan, Kyle Fuller C Baylor, Ricky Seal-Jones WR Texas A&M, Rashaad Coward DT Old Dominion
