Truth be told, I don't follow baseball. I haven't since the 94-95 player strike and the steroid scandals. Sammy Sosa really turned me off of baseball completely.
However, I grew up in Iowa watching the Cubs. My Grandpa John was a very loyal Cubs fan. I remember visiting him in the summers laying on the floor in front the giant console TV watching the WGN broadcast called by the legendary Harry Caray. Of course, with my dad working nights, he'd usually be up by game time and it was always on in our house. Also, with the Cubs' AAA affiliate the Iowa Cubs from my home town, I had the opportunity to watch the likes of Mark Grace, Ray Sanchez, Kerry Wood, and Carlos Zambrano at Sec Taylor stadium (I refuse to call it anything else).
Still though. My first thought of the Cubs win last night was of my Grandpa John and how happy he would be if he were still alive.
Great Job Cubbies!!

Well said. I have very similar memories with Grandpa John. I know he was grinning ear to ear. I could feel it!
