Good size and build. Has natural power at the point of attack. Shows some ability to battle and fight for his area of grass. Technique is a bit flawed, but has some traits. If he ever learns to drop pad level, has effective bull-rush potential. May have the body type to play 3-4 defensive end or 4-3 base end. Has some straight-line speed to close out the quarterback in space. Heavy tackler who can thump runners. Showed some positive flashes late in the season of what he might become. Raw with room to develop.

Has enough strength to project into an eventual starter or rotation lineman role.

Broad-shouldered frame with well-proportioned mass…generates push with his initial momentum and upper body strength…heavy-handed and uses his length to extend and bully blockers…flashes the take-on skills and core strength to hold contain, staying true to his gap responsibilities…eats up multiple blockers and holds his ground

It's very likely he can be the "starter" as he can play the run right now, better than Mayowa and Gregory.

I like what Tapper brings to this defense. Gregory will have to earn his way back onto the field.
Now all we need is another pass rusher.

I'd be shocked if all vets don't start. I'd also be very glad that a rookie was talented enough to start. I also think injury red shirt Ryan Russell will catch some eyes.

Not sold on the true "starter" status yet.

He'll need to earn it. He's strictly rotational right now.
